The National Naval Aviation Museum sought a highly decorative solution to grace the floor of the museum near its entrance.  After careful consideration, museum officials chose Carpet Creations, Inc to partner with them in the design, supply and installation of the new floor. The result is a 1/4 scale replica of the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz. Carpet Creations, Inc oversaw the design details, material selection, supply and installation of this unique showpiece.  The first step in the installation process was to protect the underlying terrazzo floor while providing a moisture barrier to the decorative top layer.   Kovara®  (GPC Technologies) underlayment achieved this goal completely.  Professional installation experts then painstakingly fit the decorative top layer in place.  These were first cut to exacting sizes at the Centiva Design Fabrication Department using ultrasonic knife technology.

The result is a 8,000+ sq ft floor,  comprises over 10,000 separate pieces that fit together with exacting detail.  This is a beautiful recreation of the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz at an impressive 1/4 scale.  The floor will greet and inform guests of this popular Pensacola, FL area museum for many years to come.  For more information on the flooring system, please contact Carpet Creations, Inc., (850) 432-7000; mike@carpetcreations.net
